About Me

My pen name is Andy Nava. I have an incredible passion for 2D Animation and Design. I adore 90's animated films, 2000s cartoons, and anime.
I currently am a student at Exceptional Minds Academy. My favorite part of being a creator is creating expressive, bold characters that resonate with people of all ages. It fills me with joy when an adult expresses interest in one of my characters or when a child responds positively to them.
Characters in fiction can be incredibly powerful role models, and that is what I strive to achieve with my characters and stories. To inspire, help people grow, and give people powerful role models that keep them strong when they themselves cannot.
I hope my passion shines through in my art and designs as you explore my page.
More About Me!
My Love for '89-99' Era Animated Films

"The Little Mermaid" Copyrighted by Disney
Most of my favorite movies ever come from this era and is the standard of quality I strive to achieve. "The Little Mermaid", "The Prince of Egypt", and "Beauty and the Beast", just to name a few are films from this era that played a huge role in the artist and person I am today. These movies have magnificent, handcrafted animation, excellent music, lovely character designs, triumphant stories, stunning background work, these are just some of the most beautiful works of art I have ever seen! I dream of bringing back 2D animated films of this level of caliber back into cinemas in my career. There are plenty of great modern animated films, but they just don't make them like they used to. Lovely, bold, timeless, and inspirational films all around. "The Prince of Egypt" is as a matter of fact, my absolute favorite movie.

My Love For Theme Parks

"Knott's Berry Farm" owned and operated by Cedar Fair
If I'm not talking about animation, I'm likely talking about theme parks and themed entertainment. A big appeal of animation is escapism from our day to day lives. Theme parks however take it to a much grander and ambitious level. The best theme parks are clean, have a mix of exciting and relaxing atmospheres, and have you experience unreal attractions. My favorite theme parks are currently Universal Studios Hollywood and Knotts Berry Farm as they truly excel at combining thrills with escapism. I love to experience rides like Jurassic World and Ghostrider. Very different experiences that both excel at being dreamlike and unforgettable. The levels of artistry, engineering and innovation that goes into theme parks is something I have always admired and taken inspiration from.

My Love for 2000s Cartoons

"Invader Zim" Copyrighted by Nickelodeon
I was born in 2003, so the cartoons I grew up with were a lot of the exceptional cartoons of the 2000s. Invader Zim, Teen Titans, My Life As A Teenage Robot, Chowder, Foster's Home, just to name a few. I still think back to this era very fondly with a lot of strong visual styles, good humor, exciting action scenes in a few, and some with darker more challenging themes. I believe kids content does need some more mature themes like these shows occasionally had to ease kid's into growing older. Treating a child like they cannot process anything but an innocent and funny world is a disservice to the people they are growing up to be.

My Love for Anime

"Kill la Kill" Copyrighted by Studio Trigger
As I grew into my late teens and into my adulthood, I fell in love with the more mature storytelling and animation of the Japanese animation industry. I fell in love with riveting animes like Kill la Kill, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, and Hunter x Hunter and heartfelt animes like Clannad, Spirited Away, and Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms. The exploration of darker, more mature, and much more personal topics found in anime are themes I plan to integrate into my own creations to push the envelope in the animation industry.

My Motivation
My main motivation in pursuing this career is my family. My current and future family deserve the world. I want to be able to repay my current family for being supportive of me and raising me. My future children, wife, nephews and nieces are also people I want to be able to provide a lot for.
